THE ADVENTURES OF CELIA KAYE

Disclosure: I received this book for review purposes only. All opinions are my own.

Food allergies are nothing to joke about and sadly, over 50 million Americans have allergies of some sort. Now more than ever, it is important to learn about these food allergies including Celiac Disease, an intolerance to gluten. For children it can be a little confusing to understand, so author Kaitlin Puccio created the character Celia Kaye and shares her story in the new book: The Adventures of Celia Kaye.

Kaitlin founded the brand Celia Kaye after she herself was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. Her aim is to educate and spread awareness about the disease by analyzing what she has learned from researchers and doctors and sharing that information with us.

The book starts with Celia heading to school, she is very shy about returning after summer break because she learned she has Celiac Disease and wonders how she will explain this to her friends. So she creates fun stories and although she lies to start, wanting to share anything but her news, she realizes that friends will always understand.

It's a cute, short book and although I didn't care for the little lies, or should I say creative storytelling, I can understand that a young girl may think this way. Celia is a fun character!

My daughter has a friend who is gluten intolerant, so, I appreciate having the resources out there to learn and share with my children. I look forward to learning more and enjoying more adventures with Celia Kaye!

Helping families facing the issues of celiac disease and related food allergies

Kaitlin is doing marvelous things for her community and for those who suffer with Celiac Disease.
Because of the brand Celia Kaye, the following projects are making an impact:

*The Girl Scouts of Central Texas offered the Celia Kaye Explorer Patch program in conjunction with Celiac Awareness month. (To be extended to Girl Scouts of America - nationwide)

*Bent Frame Productions is developing an animated series to be based on the books and additional stories about Celia Kaye.

*The website celiakaye.com, is dedicated to sharing user-friendly and family-friendly information about living with gluten intolerance, and will have a new section dedicated to The Adventures of Celia Kaye.

About the Book:

"Celia Kaye is a little girl who has something she thinks she needs to hide. She goes to great lengths to keep her mysterious secret concealed from her friends by becoming a master storyteller."

About the Author:

Kaitlin Puccio was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2012. She began writing articles on The Huffington Post under the pen name Celia Kaye, which chronicles her experiences with and management of the disease. She then penned The Adventures of Celia Kaye, creating a young alter-ego to give children someone to identify with and to help parents talk to their kids about the challenges of living with gluten intolerance and other food allergies.

"What I do best is create, and I found that I can use my creativity to help others," says Puccio, who is also a Fitness Nutrition Specialist (NASM) and a certified mat Pilates instructor. "Once I see a need or have an idea I choose the right process and medium for what I've created, which allows me to produce prolifically across many platforms. Writing The Adventures of Celia Kaye was only one step in my overall plan to develop the brand and help the celiac and gluten-intolerant community."
